Parotid
Sublingual
Mandibular
What are the functions of the tongue?

Mechanical and chemical digestion.
Storage and mixing of food.
Controlled release of chyme to duodenum.
Within the small intestine - where does Mechanical Digestion occur?
Commences in the mouth and continued in the stomach.
Within the small intestine - where does Chemical Digestion occur?
Commences in the stomach and continues in the duodenum (some into start of jejunum)
Within the small intestine - where does absorption occur?
Within the jejunum and ileum
What are some attributes of the pancreas?
Mixed gland - Endocrine produces hormones, Exocrine produces enzymes and bicarbonate.
V shaped organ situated between stomach and duodenum.
Two ducts open from pancreas into duodenum.
What is the function of the large intestine?
Absorbs water and electrolytes.
What is the process of defecation?
Two sphincters controlling defecation.
Faecal material enters rectum triggering the rectosphincteric reflex, causing relaxation of the internal sphincter and peristaltic contracts of the rectum.
