Digestion is the breaking down of the food we eat into other subtances so our bodies and use them

produces bile to help digestion of fats and oils
What are enzymes
Enzymes are chemicals that help speed up the breakdown of large food molecules
What does the gullet do as it moves food into the stomach
The gullet contracts as it moves food into the stomach
What does stomach acid do
The stomach has acid to kill any germs which may be on the food

The small intestine is where food is broken down and nutrients are absorbed into the blood
