Digestion And Enzymes Flashcards
3 types of enzymes
Carbohydrase enzymes (break down carbohydrates into sugars
Protease enzymes (break down protein into amino acids
Lipase enzymes (break down lipids into fatty acids)
What does the human body digest?
Carbohydrates, proteins and fats
What happens to the digested carbs proteins and fats?
They are digested into nutrients and absorbed by the body
Why does the bread taste sweet when you chew it for a long period of time?
Because the starch is hutch is in the bread is broken down into sugars
What are enzymes
Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions
Where are carbohydrase enzymes?
Mouth, pancrease and small intestine
Where are protease enzymes in the body?
Stomach pancrease and small intestine
Where are lipase enzymes in the body?
Pancrease and small intestine
Label the key parts of the digestive system
