Differentiation Flashcards

1
Q

How do you differentiate?

A

Times the coefficient of X by the power and take 1 away from the power. If the function is f(x) then the differentiation is f’(x).

Q

How do you know if a stationary point is a maximum, minimum or flat?

A

If f’‘(x)<0 then the point is a maximum. If f’‘(x)>0 the point is a minimum. If f’‘(x)=0 then the stationary point is flat.
