Differential diagnostics Flashcards
Conditions mimicing HCPH but w/o inadequate CSF absorptuion - PSeudohydrochephalus
*hcph ex vacu - loss of cerebral tissue
* developmental anomalies
reasons for hydrocephalus ex vacuo
- normal aging
- Alzheimers disease
- Creutzfeld Jacob disease
- TBI
Diff from external hcph
- benign subdural collections of infancy
- symptomatic chronic extra-axial fluid collections p939
What is a cortical vein sign?
MRI or CT may demonstrate cortical veins extending from the surface of the brain to the inner tabulae of the skull bone.
This can only be seen if the collection is subarachnoidal. If it is subdural it will somehow push the veins toward the brain so they get compressed.
Jag fattar inte detta resonemang men men. Iallafall typiskt för tillståndet.
