Different types of graphs Flashcards
The ones idk
What is a radial/radar graph?
. Sometimes called rose charts
. Have a central point from which data radiates outwards
. Data can be plotted as points along a line, where all points are joined up to form a shape
. It could also be plotted as segments along a line.
What is a Choropleth Map
. Type of map that uses different shades or colors within defined geographic areas (like countries, states, or counties) to represent the value of a variable
. The darker or brighter the shade, the higher or lower the value of the variable being displayed
What are Proportional Symbol Maps?
. Maps use symbols, typically circles, that vary in size to represent the magnitude of a variable at a specific location
. The size of each symbol is proportional to the value it represents, allowing viewers to easily compare the relative quantities at different locations.
What are Isoline Maps?
. Connecting areas with equal values (like contours)
What are Flow Line / Desire Line maps?
.Used for showing movement (people, goods, etc.) between places.
. E.g. immigration flows or traffic patterns
What are dispersion graphs?
. Shows the range of a set of data
. Illustrates how a data groups is dispersed
. Values are plotted on the vertical axis
