What are the needs for babies?

A

They shoukd be breastfed or formula fed for the first few months in life
Solid food likr cereals can be introduced around 4 to 6 months, this is called weaning
Avoid convenience baby foods and do not add sugar or salt to baby foods

What are the needs for children?

A

Children should be encouraged to eat a wide variety of foods
3 regular meals in child sized portions
Important nutrients for children include; protein (for growth), carbohydrate ( for energy), Calcium, vitamins A and D (for healthy bones and teeth), Iron and vitamin C (to prevent anaemia)

A

A well balanced diet
Protein and calcium
A good supply of iron especially for girls

A

Protein, calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins A and D
They should avoid unpasteurised cheeses, pâté and prepared salads because of the risk of listeria food poisoning

A

3 balanced meals with foods low in saturated fat, salt and sugar
High fibre foods to aid in digestion
Dairy foods for calcium and vitamins A and D to keep the bones and teeth healthy and to prevent osteoporosis
