2. Growing point: Consists of meristematic cells. Cells divide by mitosis.
3. Region of elongation: Cells become elongated in the same direction as root grows.
4. Root hair region: Root hair cells absorb water and mineral salts.
5. Mature region : Side (lateral) roots develop.
