A
Uncontrolled activation of coagulation factors and hence they deplete along with fibrinogen

A
Prolonged PT and aPTT, low fibrinogen.

A
Sepsis, burns, trauma, cancer

Clinical findings
A
Bleeding at multiple sites, trausseau syndrome

Lab findings
A
red cell fragments, schistocytes, and helmet cells

Treatment
A
Treat underlying cause, blood transfusion and platelets
