Diagnosis Arrythmias Flashcards
what pathologies do abnormalities indicate
Rate >100 no other abnormality
Sinus Tachycardia:
Anxiety, Exertion, Emotion, Pain, Fever, compensation (e.g, hypovoleamic)
Rate <60 NAD
Sinus Bradycarida:
Fit young adult. Sleeping, elderly.
Sick Sinus syndrome, iatrogenic, raised ICP, congenital heart defects, carotid sinus pressure, pericarditis, hypothyroidism, hypothermia
Sinus rhythm with variable rate
? Sinus arrhythmia .
Rate increase with inspiration and decrease with expiration.
Can be physiological
Variable R-R interval
wiggly baseline with no clear P waves
Atrial Fibrillation
Saw tooth appearance
Atrial Flutter
What is Heart block
disruption of conduction pathwyas between atria and ventricles
Prolonged P-R interval (> 6 small squares)
1st degree heart block
Normal cardiac cycle, progressive lengthening of P-R interval then one non- transmitted P wave
2nd degree Heart block
Mobitz type 1 (wenkebach phenomenon)
periodically non-transmitted p waves
2nd degree heart block
Mobitz type 2
one normal cycle then one non-conducted beat (or 2 or 3 ) giving and P P (P) QRS P P (P) QRS pattern
2nd Degree heart block 2:1 type
regular P-P interval but no connection between P waves and periodic QRS complexes which occur due to escape mechanism below AV node
3rd Degree (complete) heart block
