Classification
A
- the process of organising symptoms into categories based on which symptoms cluster together in sufferers

Positive symptom
A
an excess or distortion of normal functions: including hallucinations and delusions

Hallucinations
A
- auditory or visual perceptions of things that are not present

Delusions
A
- false beliefs
- person is convinced that they are someone powerful
- person could be paranoid and worrying that people are out to get them

Psychomotor Disturbances
A
- include rocking backwards and forwards, twitches & repetitive behaviours
- catatonia - staying in position for hours, cut off from the world

Negative Symptoms
A
atypical experiences that represent the loss of usual experience such as clear thinking or ‘normal’ levels of motivation

Avolition
A
- difficult to begin or keep up with goal directed activity
- reduced motivation
- poor hygiene and grooming

A
- changes in speech pattern
- delay in verbal responses during convo
- speech disorganisation
- speech is incoherent or changes topic mid convo
