HISTORY:

  • 18 year old, female, soccer player
  • Insidious onset of groin pain; pain along the inguinal line that limits participation in sports
  • she describes the pain as “burning”
  • she states that pain increases when coughing or sneezing
  • pain began 2 mo ago, has not participated in soccer secondary to increased pain

EXAM FINDINGS:

  • Tenderness to palpation over the R inguinal region and pubic symphysis
  • Special test: (+) resisted hip adduction, (–) scour

  • Repetitive stress or athletic trauma.
  • Groin and pubic pain, pain with palpation.
  • Pain with coughing/sneezing secondary to the abdominal musculature attachment to the pubic symphysis.
