  1. lack of emphasis on the childhood roots
  2. they would start with an adult with the disorder and then applied to children
  3. Qualitative differences were not looked at

What contributed to the change in the way childhood psychopathology was looked at?

A

Edelbrock and Achenbach (1981) started to think about depression in children

  1. 1300 children study
  2. Wanted to find out the statistical differences between referred children and normal children
  3. They asked the parents if their children looked angry or depressed?
