Proportion of the people below (aged 0-14) and above (aged over 65) the normal working age.
What is life expectancy?
Average number of years a person can be expected to live
Maternal mortality meaning
Number of mothers per 100 000 who die in childbirth
Fertility rate meaning
Average number of births per woman
Birth rate meaning
Number of live births per 1000 people per year
What is infant mortality?
Number of children per 1000 who die before their first birthday
What is death rate?
Number of deaths per 1000 people per year
What is development?
A process of change that affects people’s lives
GDP meaning
The total value of goods and services produced in a year
GDP PPP meaning
GDP purchasing power parity - shows what the GDP will buy in other countries
Access to drinking water meaning
The percentage of the population with access to water supply within a km
What is meant by the poverty line?
The minimum income required to meet someone’s basic needs
Literacy rate meaning
The percentage of the population aged over 15 who can read and write
Corruption perception index rate meaning
Uses a scale from 0 - 10 ( o being very corrupt , 10 being honest) to rank how stable the government is.
Human index development - HDI meaning
Combines health, wealth and education to show the development of a country. ( 0 - 1 the higher the better)
