what is maoism?
chinese form of communism which stresses the importance of peasantry(different to stalinism)

the only major country was Stalin’s USSR.Other countries recognised the nationalist government who has retreated to Taiwan.

put millions of dollars towards Taiwan and Japan to build up their economy and they refused to acknowledge the communist PRC.

in response to the chinese communist revolution and the soviets building a bomb

a secret document that repeated the USA’s commitment to containment and the allowance to spend more money on military which was issued to the military and secret services
what was the significance of the NSC-68?
showed that the USA was ready for war and that it perceived communism as a threat.

began to break down
what were the ideological differences between the USSR and the PRC?
their interpretation of communism were different.Mao’s supporters were peasants but in the USSR,it was more urban factory workers
what did the west view the PRC as?
a gain for Stalin and a sign of failure for the containment policy
