Where should the conclusions be in the argument?
At the start and at the end
What is an intermediate conclusion?
A conclusion made partway through an argument which supports the main conclusion- it acts as a reason supporting it
What is the difference between counter reasons and counter assertions?
Counter arguments oppose the main conclusion and are supported by reasons but counter assertions oppose the main conclusion however are not supported by reasons.
Why should you state and dismiss a counter argument or assertion?
It can strengthen your argument if it is well developed.
What is hypothetical reasoning?
A prediction about what will happen in the future that depends on something else
What are general principles?
Rules to guide how we act- can be moral, social, legal or practical
E.g. Everyone who breaks the law should be punished.
What must you include for all 3 marks in an evaluation question?
Make a relevant comparison between the 2 things in the analogy
Make a clear reference to the source document
What do you need to include in a 9 makes evaluation?
Say what you’re going to evaluate
Refer to the document in your answer
Say why it is a strength or weakness
