Both are explosion mechanisms
Deflagration is more subtle : flame front travelling at subsonic velocities
Overpressure less than 1 barg
Detonation :flame front travels at supersonic speed which produces a shockwave which pre heats reactants ahead of the flame front
Overpressure more than 10 barg Detonation
