Always Contact JA if a minor is a subject prior to detention and interview
Contact Parents/Guardians and await their arrival before any interaction
Contact individuals sponsors 1sgt to be witness of processing if parents/guardians cannot be reached

How long do parents/guardians have to respond to the incident & what will SF do?

A

They have 60 min if the reasons they cannot respond is out of their hands
If they wish to be there SF will make an effort to wait
UNLESS if it compromises safety, allow physical evidence to decay/be destroyed/become compromised/interfere with ongoing investigation

What if the parents/guardians cannot respond?

A

Flight chief must determine with consultation from JA to figure out if processing can start depending on the minors ability to make intelligent and voluntary statements based on maturity and comprehension.

What can family friends of the minor do in the processing?

A

If they are acting care taker they do not have any legal standing as a parent/guardian have but are only OBSERVERS
