Q

What is a needs and assets assessment?

A

Collect and analyze data to determine wants, needs, assets of the target population

Determine capacity to address needs

Get to know culture of the community

MUST BE BOTTOM-UP (i.e. the community must be involved in this process); top-down approaches are ineffective

Q

Following the needs assessment, how does priority-setting work?

A

Systematic process of identifying priority health issues based on assessment findings

  • Severity of the problem
  • # of people impacted
  • Effective intervention available/feasible
  • Cost-effectiveness of interventions

Q

What is intervention development in program planning?

A

Q

What is program planning evaluation?

A

Determine the effectiveness of the program

  • Formative evaluation (during, process, mid-course, and summative process)
  • Summative (after, measures impact and outcome objectives)

Answers questions like:

  • Did you do what you said you were going to do?
  • Was your intervention effective in meeting your objectives?
