RGB color system
Red Green blue
used in elevisions and computers, though it has also been used in conventional photography and colored lighting.
Hexidecimal color system
a method of representing colors using a six-digit code made up of numbers and letters (0-9, A-F), where each pair of digits represents the intensity of red, green, and blue components of a color, with the format “#RRGGBB” where “RR” is red, “GG” is green, and “BB” is blue
CMYK color system
Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black.
used for prints printing
What is hierarchy?
a system that organizes elements within a design to guide the viewer’s eye and help them understand the information
What is balance?
arrangement according to rule of 3rds
What is contrast?
Deliberate use of difference to create visual interest and emphasis.
What is alignment?
Refers to the arrangement of elements in a composition. Proper alignment directs the viewer’s eye and establishes relationships between elements, making the overall design easier to understand.
What is proximity?
close together = same group/they have a relationship
What is similarity?
A relationship in imaging built on the same shape, color, or group
What is a headline and where is it located on a page?
the title of a news story or article in a newspaper or magazine

What is a gutter and where is it located on a page?
the blank space between two facing pages of a book or other printed material, where the pages are bound together
What is a caption and where is it located on a page?
a short piece of text that appears directly below or beside an image, providing a brief explanation or description of what is shown in the picture
What is a bleed and where is it located on a page?
a printing technique that extends the printed image or background color past the trimmed edge of the page and later precision cuts the edges off
What is the deck and where is it located on a page?
The secondary headline or subheadline that provides additional information about the article’s main topic, often summarizing key points
