Describe the functions of host and network devices Flashcards
Host Roles
Host Hosts are devices like computers or servers that provide services and access to resources for users or other devices on the network.
Peer-to-peer
In a peer-to-peer network, devices (peers) interact directly without a central server. Each device functions as both a client and a server.
End Devices
End devices, such as computers, smartphones, printers, and IP cameras, are used by users to access network resources and services.
Intermediary Devices
These devices, such as routers, switches, and hubs, facilitate communication between hosts, manage traffic, and ensure data reaches the correct destination.
Network Media
The physical or wireless pathways used to transmit data between devices. Examples include Ethernet cables (wired) and Wi-Fi (wireless).
