Describe the features of Keratoacanthoma
A
- Low grade squamous cell carcinoma
- KA is commonly found on sun-exposed skin, and often is seen on the face, forearms and hands.
- Biopsy may be indistinguishable from SCCa, except for the abscence of epithelial membrane antigen
- Biopsy must include tumor junction and adjacent normal tissue
- Central keratinous core, epidermal lip
- Considered benign, but has explosive growth for 2-4 wks
- Central crater filled with keratin plug
- Usually resolve if untreated
- Can also inject 5-FU or methotrexate
