surgical excision of all sinus tracts
What is cellulitis?
a skin infection caused by bacterial entry into a break in the skin
What are risk factors for cellulitis?
skin barrier disruption due to:
trauma
skin inflammation
edema due to impaired lymphatic drainage or venous insufficiency
obesity
immunosuppression (HIV, DM)
S/S of cellulitis
skin erythema, edema, and warmth, may present with fever
Cellulitis is almost always unilateral
Whats the MCC of cellulitis?
staph aureus
What is 1st line tx of cellulitis?
1st line: trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (an agent that covers infection due to methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA))
