Betamethasone dipropionate, clobetasol, desonide, fluocinonide, momentasone, triamcinolone
Excessive use can lead to impaired would healing & irritation, may cause drying and irritation at application site
Fluocinolone/Synalar
Excessive use can lead to impaired would healing and skin thinning, may cause drying and irritation at application site, avoid oil based form in pt w/ severe peanut allergy
Hydrocortisone/Cortizone
Beers med, excessive use can lead to impaired wound healing and skin thinning, may cause adrenal suppression, high blood sugar, weight gain. May cause drying and irritation at application site, take oral form with food
Methylprednisolone, Prednisone
Beers med, may cause adrenal suppression, high blood sugar, weight gain. Take oral form with food
Tazarotene/Tazorac
Do not use if pregnant, must have negative pregnancy test within 2 weeks of starting, should not be applied to face or eyes.
Calcipotriene/Dovonex
May cause skin irritation & rashes at application site, should not apply to face or eyes
Pimecrolimus/Elidel
May cause skin irritation at application site, should not apply to face or eyes
Tacrolimus/Protopic
May cause skin irritation at application site, NIOSH, should not apply to face or eyes
Apremilast/Otezla
Interacts w/ many drugs (Carbamazepine)
Crisaborole/Eucrisa
May cause skin irritation at application site
Dupilumab/Dupixent
May cause immunosuppression, live vaccines should be avoided
Adalimumab/Humira
High alert med, monitor LFT, may cause immunosuppression, avoid live vaccines, need regular TB tests
Etanercept/Enbrel
High alert med, may cause immunosuppression, avoid live vaccines, need regular TB tests
