Treatment for Atopic Dermatitis (eczema)
- Oral Antihistamine (control itch)
- topical corticosteroid (put out the fire) *use carefully because baby’s skin is thinner than adults
- Topical Immune Modulator (Elidel, Protopic)
- Moisturizing cleansers, emollients, humidifier
- itching
- excoriated erythema with vesicles
Dyshidrotic Dermatitis
Worse when warm or moist - more common in feet but can happen in hands if they often wear gloves & sweat

- Topical Corticosteroid
- Oral Antihistamine
**RULE OUT TINEA & CONTACT DERM!!!
multiple round, dry, itchy, erythematous patches.
- no white scaling. no central clearing

- Oral Antihistamine
- Moisturizing cleansers, emollients, humidifier - worse in winter
**RULE OUT TINEA!!
- Redness & flaking
- Oily skin, dandruff
- Erythema with mild scaling, diffuse flaking to scalp

- Sulfa based cleanser &/or antidandruff shampoo
- topical antifungal (ketoconazole)
- topical steroid (low potency)
- Swelling, redness & itching to lower extremeties
- multiple varicosities
- edema, Lichenified, Eczematous
- Varicose veins
- *Worsens after standing
stasis Dermatitis
worse when standing.
no infection
things are static due to decreased blood flow.
*Seen in pts with h/o CHF & HTN**

Stasis Dermatitis Treatment
- Topical Steroids
- Oral antihistamine
- Compression Stockings
- Systemic Corticosteroids
- Oral ABX
- Venous Ultrasounds
*R/o clot if one leg more swollen than the other
* Sugars can go up with oral steroid use, watch if pt diabetic
- red bumps around mouth and nose
- multiple erythematous papules
- no pustules, no honey colored crust
Perioral Dermatitis
can be caused by certain lipglosses or toothpastes
