Derm Test Flashcards
What is Seborrhoeic keratosis?
A well circumscribed intrapidermal squamous proliferation with a flat base, lacking squamous dysplasia. Hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, interlacing pigmented epidermal strands and ‘horn cysts’.
What is Solar lentigo?
A well-circumscribed intrepidermal keratinocyte proliferation with elongated rete-ridges and lack of cytologic atypia or squamous dysplasia. Basal pigment, budding. Typically alongside solar elastosis.
What is Verruca vulgaris?
A common HPV-induced benign cutaneous squamoproliferative lesion. Hyperkeratosis, acanthosis, hypergranulosis, papillomatosis, columns of parakeratosis. Koilocytosis. Prominent, inwardly proliferating rete ridges.
What is an Epidermal inclusion cyst?
Cyst lined by squamous epithelium with granular layer. Basket-weave keratin contents.
What is a Trichilemmal cyst?
Cyst lined by squamous epithelium without granular layer. ‘Wet’ keratin contents.
What is a Nasal dermoid cyst?
Congenital developmental midline nasal defect. Cyst/sinus lined by keratinizing squamous epithelium. Normal dermal appendages.
What is Sebaceous hyperplasia?
An expansion of normal lobular sebaceous gland architecture without thickening of peripheral germinative layer of seboblasts.
