16
Q

What two abnormalities is there present within the epidermis?

A

Spongiosis and inflammatory cell infiltrates

17
Q

What is the underlying pathology here?

A

Scabies

18
Q

What pathology is seen here?

A

Lichen planus

Can see:

  • Irregular sawtooth acanthosis
  • Hypergranulosis and orthohyperkeratosis
  • Band-like upper dermal infiltrate of lymphocytes
  • Basal damage with formation of cytoid bodies
19
Q

End result seen in pemphigus vulgaris?

A

acantholysis

20
Q

Where is IgG deposited in pemphigus?

A

Intradermal - still some hemidesmosomal attachments

21
Q

What does IgG deposition look like in pemphigoid?

A

Linear

22
Q

What pathology is going on here?

A

iDermatitis herpetiformis - papillary dermal abcesses seen (the thing that looks like a weird white flavoured loollipop)

Will get granular deposition of IgA

23
Q

Whats the happs here?

A

Rosacea

Can see the follicular demodex mite in

And apparently perifollicular granulomas

24
Q

Cause of this immunoflurensence

A

Seen in dermatitis herpetiformis

Granular deposition of IgA

25
Q

Are there inflammatory infliltrates in all types of dermatitis?

A

No, inflammatory infiltrates are specific to eczema.

However, there is spongiosis found within all types of dermatitis.

26
Q

What type of naevus is this and what age might it occur?

A

It is a junctional naevus - can see the cluster of melanocytes at the DEJ ready to move down

Present in childhood

27
Q

What type of naevus is this and when might it occur?

soz cant find pic lol xx melanocytes present below the DEJ

A

This is intradermal naevus which occurs in adulthood

All the melanocytes which give it pigment are now resting in the dermis - ie all the little dark dots

28
Q

Dysplastic naevus affects what layer of skin?

A

Dermis - does not affect epidermis like melanoma

29
Q

What type of naevus is this?

A

This is a dysplastic naevus - there is apparently cellular atypia, can see some inflammatory cells and the clumps of melanocytes are localised to the dermis

30
Q

What type of naevus is this?

A

This is a spitz naevus

Consists of spindle and epthoidal cells

Benign juvenille

31
Q

What type of naevus is this?

A

Blue naevus

Can see rich dendritic spindle cells, it is entirely dermal

32
Q

What type of cancer is this?

A

This is a superficial spreading melanoma commonly found on the trunk and legs

It is purely epidermal

33
Q

Which type of melanoma is this?

A

This is a dermally invasive form of melanoma - VGP

34
Q

Which type of melanoma is this?

A

This is a nodular melanoma, it is believed to be the most aggressive
