Q

Christmas tree rash with Herald Patch

What is it?

What’s the Rx?

A

Pityriasis Rosea

Herald Patch classically appears on abdomen then there is a generalized trunk spread in 2 days-2 weeks

May be preceded by URI

Lesions are discrete, circular/oval pink/red
There should be scaling on the perimeter
There should be central clearing on at least two of the larger lesions.

No palmar/plantar lesions or vescicles

Self Resolves in 5-6 weeks but rule out Lyme, Ring Worm and Psoriasis. Antihistamines may help itch. Sun exposure hastens healing.

Q

Lentigo AKA

A

Age Spots

Sun Damage caused benign flat brown spots on face, hands arms head.

It has a clearly defined edge and is essentially a melanocyte congregation confined to the epithelium. May grow over time

May invade the dermis, in which case it will start to grow and the color will become notably non-uniform. This is a Lentigo enroute to becoming LENTIGO MALIGNA which has the potential to become LENTIGO MALIGNA MELANOMA.
