Q

SID

A

Standard instrument procedure
-Provides obstacle clearance and reduces pilot/controller workload by simplifying atc clearances and minimizing comms.
-May include radio failure procedures
-Are always published graphically

Q

Diverse departure procedures

A

Ensures an aircraft can climb and turn in any direction from a runway while maintaining proper obstacle clearance .
-All departures are intially assessed using a 40:1 obstacle celarance surface.
-The Rrequired Obstacle Clearance expands along the departure route until reaching 1000ft or 2000ft mountainous area.
-The assessment is limited to 25nm or 46 miles mountains from departure.
-If runway fails to meet the DDP an ODP is developed.

Q

Diverse vector area

A

Allows radar vectors in lieu of the pilot flying an odp
-Allows atc to vector aircraft below the minimum vectoring altitude or minimum ifr altitude immediately after takeoff.
-Found in the ODP section of the TPP

Climb Over Airport (VCOA)

A

Departure option for ifr aircraft in VMC
-Pilot visually conducts climbing turns over the airport up to the published climb to altitude and then proceeds to the instrument departure.
-Designed to avoid obstacles beyond 3sm from the departure end of the runway as an alternative to complying with climb gradients greater than 200 fpnm.
-Advice atc early as possible prior to departure of intention
- Published in the takeoff mins and odp procedures of the TPP
