1300, 10
Tb3
Safety precautions when working on aluminum Roofs:
It is advisable that roof ladders be used whenever possible while working on the roofs of these structures under fire conditions. These roofs may be safe to walk on normally but when heated by fire they become unsafe
Tb8
When cutting wires attached to a building, use the following safeguards
Wear full PPE‘s. Protective goggles must be worn. Consider donning SCBA face piece. Use mechanical axe with a rubber gauntlet gloves. Stand on a dry object. Lock in when working on a ladder. Be sure all insulated wires leading to the service head are cut.
Tb8 electrical hazards
The apparatus is not insulated from the ground by its rubber tires and may be energized by live wires in the following ways:
By touching an object that is in contact with a life conductor ,
by direct contact with a live conductor,
by way of an extended aerial ladder touching a live conductor
Tb8
What are the guidelines for raising ladders at incidents were electrical hazards exist?
Keep ladders 10 feet from powerlines.
All members should identify the presence of overhead wires transformers etc.
Watch tops of ladders being raised for potential hazards.
Be aware of any conditions that may cause ladders to slip or slide in contact any electrical source.
Be aware of hand tools used on ladders
Tb8
Although water is not a good conductor, incidents such as Sheard hydrants where large volumes of water are contacting high-voltage lines should be approached with care the following procedures should guide first responders actions:
Spot apparatus a significant distance from hazard be cognizant that high-voltage lines impacted by water from shared hydrant may arc or fall at any time. All members should be alert for additional down wires or energized exposures. Unless a Life hazard exist, notify in a weight arrival of DWP Personnel.
Tb8
Although injuries to firefighters from applying water directly on electrical fires are rare, water streams applied in the vicinity of high voltage should be avoided. When hose streams must be used the following should be adhered to.
Where possible, extinguish small electrical fires with dry Chem or carbon dioxide extinguishers.
Utilize the 30/33 100 rule for using hose streams around high-voltage.
Maintain a safe distance from the energized equipment.
The DWP also recommends not approaching a high voltage source closer than one’s body length so that a fall would not cause direct body contact.
Remember the safest tactic regarding the use of hose streams around high voltage sources to take a defensive stance, let the equipment burn and protect exposures.
Tb8
Maintain a clearance minimum of how many feet beyond the outer most wire of electrical transmission lines?
100’
Tb8
Utilize the 30\33/100 rule when directing her streams near high-voltage in the wild land refers to what three in order?
Utilize a 30° fog pattern, maintain a safe distance of at least 33 feet from the energize source, maintain at least 100 psi to the nozzle.
Tb8
Never put water into a vault or down a manhole true or false?
True
Tb35
Areas that are deemed to be unsafe for Personnel to access shall be completely restricted with?
Both fire line tape and red and white striped barricade tape
Tb35
What are the types of overhaul?
Complete overhaul.
Wet overhaul .
fire-watch.
Thermal imaging camera.
Tb35
When a complete overhaul is performed, overhaul piles shall be established in a location that will minimize any inconvenience to the public, and at a minimum of _ feet from any part of the structure. These areas should be identified in the planning phase for coordination of the companies during overhaul
10’
Tb35
What are example of these life-saving procedures in overhaul
Thoroughly ventilating a structure.
Allowing sufficient time for particulate matter to settle.
Shield personnel with a proper PPE.
Conducting post incident decontamination.
Tb 106
Watch outs for structure fires:There are three additional direct causes of firefighter injury or death in the wild land and these were added to L. C. E. S. What are they?
Location, conditions, safety equipment.
Tb 106
There are_Watchout situations that have been identified when working in the wild land. Each one of the watch outs has on more than one occasion caused injury or death to firefighters.
18
Tb 106
For structure fires, options for communication are:
Face to face, radio, hose line pull, air horn operational retreat
Tb 140
Elevator recall phase is considered:
Phase 1
Tb 140
Elevator ascent during fire fighting operations shall be used when the reported location is above the _ floor
6th
Tb140
If the building is equipped with split bank elevators, do not use the elevator that services the fire floor if a lower bank of elevators reaches within_floors of the fire.
5
Tb140
If the presence of any amount of smoke, fire, or_is detected, the use of the elevator for ascent shall be discontinued.
Water
Tb 140
If the circular fire service, fire helmet, or Maltese cross indicator light on the elevator car control panel is blinking, the elevator cars in that bank should:
Not be used
Tb 175
Post structure fire decontamination: it is the overall responsibility of the_to implement this process and designate a decontamination company.
IC
Tb 175
In the event a company is returning to quarters NAV D con and is alerted or comes across a Still alarm incident that needs immediate intervention, what is the best course of action?
Officers shall take the appropriate actions necessary to ensure PPE is donned and mitigation of the incident is accomplished
Book 100 ch2
What is the Primary responsibility of the first in company?
Locate and identify the emergency and determine its scope
Book 100 ch2
Lobby control performs all of the following functions
Initial pressurization of stairwells, controls the air handling system, coordinate logistics between base and staging, controlling the elevators, vertical access routes and taking responsibility for initially activating the buildings communication system.
Book 100 ch2
Staging should be established utilizing a company from the_assignment consistent with strategic considerations and priorities.
First alarm
Bk 100 ch2
Staging personnel must ascend by a safe route and set up staging, normally_floor is below the fire.
2
Bk 100 ch2
Supplying water to the building standpipe system will be the responsibility of the first arriving?
200 series engine or second arriving single engine
Bk100 ch2
The basic requirements of the incident command system have been met with the establishment of:
Fire attack, lobby control, staging and base
Bk 100 ch2
As incidence expand beyond_, the incident commander shall ensure the assignment or designate a rapid intervention company to standby
The first alarm assignment
Bk 100 ch2
In a high-rise fire incidents, a rapid intervention company shall be located_. This will allow for a rapid invention company to to be deployed in an expedient manner
