7
Q

Where does freeze thaw action occur?

A

This occurs up in the mountains where it’s above or below the freezing point and a lot of precipitation happens here

Q

How does freeze thaw action work?

A

Day - The water seas into the cracks in the rocks
Night - Temperature falls down below freezing point and the crack expands by 10%
Over time - This process continues which weakens the rocks and pieces falling off eventually.

Q

How does carbonation work

A

Carbonation - When the weak carbonic acid in the rainwater falls onto the limestone , the calcium carbonate in the limestone starts to dissolve.

17
Q

Name one feature of limestone

A

Permeable (water can pass through it)
