What is the appropriate treatment for a permanent tooth that has been displaced or avulsed?

Answer 1

1. Consider analgesia & haemorrhage control

If less than 60 mins since injury:
- tooth reimplantation into the socket if appropriate (get pt to bit down on a moist gauze)

If more than 60 mins since injury or tooth reimplantation not possible:
- store tooth in an appropriate medium & transport to hospital

Appropriate mediums: normal saline, milk or saliva (tooth placed inside patients lip/cheek)
