• Ellis classification system
• Class I fractures: enamel
  
  • Jagged tooth edges, no other sequelae
• Class II fractures: enamel and dentin (yellow)
  
  • Sensitivity to heat, cold, air
• Class III fractures: enamel, dentin (yellow), and pulp (pink)
  
  • Severe pain
• Class IV: root
  
  • Must be confirmed by dental x-ray or panoramic view
