Density And Flotation Flashcards
Density?..
The density of a substance is the mass of one cubic cm of it. The amount of mass in a certain volume of a substance.
Mass?..
The amount of matter in it.
Measured in kg or g.
It is measured using an electronic balance.
Density unit?..
Gram per cubic cm or kg per cubic metre
Float?..
An object will float in a liquid if it is less dense than the liquid
Sink ?..
An object will sink if it is more dense that the liquid
The Dead Sea?..
The Dead Sea is very dense because there is so much salt in it and u can float in it
Examples of things that float?…
Cream floats on coffee, oil, ice, some woods e.g a cork and it will also float in oil, ice will sink in oil,
How do Ships float?..
A ship is hollow and the inside of the ship is filled with air so the density is less than the density of water
