Demonstrate the technique for palpation of the cervical lymph nodes
A
- Explain to the patient ‘I am gointo feel for some glands in your jaw and neck’
- From behind the patient, palpate near the end of the jaw at the bottom and go in a ‘z’ shape coursing horizontally along towards the ear initially then, then diagonally along the posterior border of the SCM and then back horizontally again before the clavicle
- Palpate with a circular rubbing-like motion
