Schizophrenia Diagnostic criteria
A
- Very clear 1st rank symptom
- Two or more suggestive 1st rank symptoms
- OR at least 2 of the 2nd rank symptoms
for at least 1 month present most days
More general symptoms may precede this by up to 6 months
Accompanied by significant and consistent personality change

Schizophrenia Symptoms
A
1st Rank
- Thought echo, broadcast, insertion
- Delusons of control, passivity phenomena, made movements
- 3rd person auditory hallucinations; running comentary or discussion of the patient
- Persistent delusions.
2nd Rank
- Persistent hallucinations accompanied by fleeting delusions or persistent overvalued ideas or present every day for months
- Catatonia
- Negative symptoms
- Formal thought disorders

Subtypes of Schizophrenia
A
Paranoid Catatonic Hebephrenic Undifferentiated Post Schizophrenic Depression.

Schizotypal Disorder
A
No 1st rank symptoms but periods of second rank in a patient with
- consistent eccentric behaviour
- Social withdrawal
- paranoid ideas

Persistent delusional disorder
A
Single delusion or closely interrelated set of delusions held for >3months in absence of 1st rank symptoms
