why energy
because of the paradigm shift happening for new energy - exciting challenge

because they are industry leaders in the energy transition and this is what I’m focused on
what skills would you bring to the role
comms. client/project work. knowledge of the energy industry but also the gumption to find answers (but can still ask for help)
what are your greatest strengths
problem solver. tenacious
what is your greatest achievement
building world class team on twitter. took hard work, thinking outside the box, doing things I hadn’t done before (recruitment). Team respected BY twitter.
tell me about a challenge with your colleagues and how you solved it
sales team at brightpearl were often noisy during my client calls. Asked them to stop, no dice. In the interest of harmony I adapted - hotdesking, earphones, booking meeting rooms for important stuff
describe a time you disagreed with your boss’s decision
self-implementation at Brightpearl. I thought it was a mistake - i was overruled. I decided to try and quietly prepare - better docs, reduce backlog. It worked, to a degree
where do you see yourself in 5 years
diving ever-deeper into the world of energy, being a thought leader in the space. Job title not o important
what’s your dream job
to write about energy - the challenges, the opportunities what’s happening in the industry
what type of work environment do you prefer
I certainly like to be friendly with colleagues and have a good working relationship, but I think it’s always important to respect boundaries too and respect deadlines etc.
what kind of management style do you like
I think good managers often are able to recognise the difference and diversity in people’s strengths. No one’s perfect at anything, it’s about how you build up the team collectively and people as individuals
give me a time you showed leadership
when sasha left twitter team - I put my transition plans on hold, took the hit, used it as a springboard to rebuild better (rota, recruitment, benefits)
how do you deal with stressful situations
breathe. make a list, no matter how big. one thing at a time
give me an example of you managing conflicting priorities
at bp, had 2 managers (US and UK). This came up often. First, build contigency time. Second, examine if the priorities really are equal. If NO wiggle room, ask for help
