DEGREE APREN Flashcards
Tell me about yourself?
I would say I am a well rounded bubbly individual, That loves to spend my free time volunteering for charities + local youth clubs. As I love giving back to the community. I also love spending time with my family and friends. I am currently studding computer science + love engaging with new technology. That’s why I started my work experience in a phone shop where they were so amazed at my knowledge that they hired me.
What do you do for fun?
I love to spend quality time with my family and friends. This can be going out and playing football in the park or getting on our bikes and going on adventures exploring new routes and areas. I have also recently started to go to the gym and am currently enjoying that.
Why should we hire you
Well i believe you should hire me as i have over 3 years of technology based retail experience where i have really understood the importance of making sure customer service is a priority. I am able to manage my time effectively working towards deadlines + sale targets. I am a bubbly and friendly individual that allows me to easily help and asset others. I would really like to represent Threes brand values and assist customers with their needs.
What will you bring to this role?
Well i will bring my experience and knowledge of technology from my previous role and my study’s. I will also bring my teamwork skills to bath and work together with my colleagues to ensure all tasks are completed at the highest standard.
Tell me about a time you dealt with an angry customer
A time where i had to deal with an angry customer was when a customer left his phone for a repair. On his return he noticed an issue with the repair, and began to raise his voice. I quickly came over to help + resolve the situation. I softly spoke to the customer + explained how we could resolve the situation, suggesting a 2nd repair. The customer felt reassured + calmed down, by the end his phone was fixed and he thanked me for my help.
Tell me about a time you have had to work as a team
When working during the charismas rush it was really important to work well and communicate as a team. One time, i was completing a stock check, when i realised that my colleague was getting very busy with customers and the shop floor becoming busier. I went over to assist the customers so that my colleague didn’t feel pressured. We worked as a team to serve customers and once done i retuned to my previous task and finished it.
Tell me about a time you have had a deadline
A situation where i had a time deadline was was my previous role when i was asked to complete a stock report in a set amount of time. I had started my stock report when i noticed a lot of missing stock. I began by relocating the missing stock as quickly as i could and put it back in its place. I finished the stock report earlier than the deadline without compromising its quality.
What are you proud of
A situation in which i worked towards a target was the last charity event i did before the pandemic. All the volunteers were tasked with selling tickets for the fundraiser, at around 100 each. In the end i had sold the over 250 tickets and really felt proud of myself. Bringing my selling experience and techniques really came in handy! Of course coming out on top was amazing but i also felt pride knowing the money raised would be going to a great cause and help change peoples lives around the world.

Why an apprenticeship
I have chosen an apprenticeship as i would like to utilise my skills alongside learning new ones. I think working in a work environment alongside studying will help me to increase my knowledge and allow me to put what i have learnt in to a real world setting. I am an extremely hands on person, I prefer taking my time and really investing myself in the learning process and then learning how to adapt and apply that in reality. Having theoretical knowledge is great, however it’s application that makes the difference in how well you have utilised that knowledge. Being hands will really test my ambitions and creativity, and allow me to adapt to different situations, thus preparing me for all circumstances.
Skills, qualities and goals
I have shown myself to be a committed, hard-working and a well-rounded individual. Both previous and current experience has given me the confidence and ability to interact with a diverse amount of people, and really showcase the skills I have to offer. Being vice house captain at my school allowed me to interact with a wide range of people, thus bettering my communication and listening skills. This also aided my ability to work as a team as i competed in a variety of sports teams during school, such as Rugby, athletics and Badminton. My skills were further developed through my retail experience, where it was vital to work alongside a team and independently. All these qualities have also made me an extremely ambitious individual, I’m constantly looking at how to aid my future, finding new experiences and situations to place myself within. I would also use a combination of these qualities, to apply within my job role and give it my all. Looking at the future I want to look back on my career and be proud of the work I have put in, and to be proud of what i have accomplished.

Please describe your related experience paid or unpaid and any relevant qualifications for this role.
I have had both paid and unpaid experience which would be highly relevant for this role. To begin
with, my customer advisor role has helped me to adapt to different situations in which it is
important that i aid the customer to the best of my ability, whilst also using my thorough knowledge
to come to decisions. This would be by composing a product which is suited for them based off their
requirements and what i have inferred from the communication. I also completed work placement
at Bishop Fleming, which entailed many activities which required the team to work together and
achieve a goal using their maths skills and general knowledge. Linking these to the role I would be
able to adapt to different situations and work together with the team, but also use my own
knowledge to come to informed decisions.
Please describe your knowledge and experience of IT Operating Systems such as Windows and Linux.
my knowledge and experience of different operating systems is across multiple OS. I have used
windows on a daily basis for college work. Alongside using windows, I have also used apple OS which
was more so for remote working. This has given me the knowledge and experience of shortcuts
across both of these operating systems. As I have been using windows since I was very young, I am
very comfortable with the shortcuts and being able to find navigate my way through. I have also
been using windows at my customer advisor role, in which we used windows 7 and have recently
upgraded to using iPads. In college we were also tasked with creating a virtualised environment
which was part of my assessments. This allowed me to configure Windows and provided me with
more experience whilst also setting up ubuntu which is part of Linux. I noticed Linux provided a lot
more customisability than windows but also took a lot longer to setup and manage.
Please explain your experience of organisational skills (within school context or any other roles)
I developed thorough organisational skills whilst I was both working and studying. Having deadlines
for assignments and working a weekend job was extremely difficult, and thus i had to ensure i was
managing my time effectively and organising my schedule properly. In order to complete the
assignments and work busy shifts on the weekend, it was vital that i was on top of things. I have
learnt to plan ahead which has equipped me with both time management and organisational skills.
This has also really helped my mental health and wellbeing as I am not leaving assignments to the
last minute and instead doing it over a scheduled period of time, leaving me room for further
activities.
