Definitions Used In Network Analysis Flashcards
What is an element
Ideal component of a network ( resistor, voltage, source, current source).
Nodes
Point at the junction between two or more elements
Loop
Any closed path that can be drawn through a network along which each node is encountered just once.
Mesh
A loop but one which cannot be subdivided into smaller loops.
Combining series resistors
Resistors are in series if they carry the same current.
Total voltage= V1+V2+V3, V=I(R1+R2+R3).
Total resistance Rtotl= V/I
Combining Parallel resistors
Parallel if they have the same voltage.
I= V/ R1= GV
I= V/R, I= GV
Total resistance R= V/I
Conductance: Gtotal= I/V, Gtotal
Combine parallel resistors by adding their conductances.
Combining two resistors in parallel
Total resistance is the product of the resistors / sum of resistors.
Rtotal= R1R2/ R1+ R2.
Three resistors in parallel
Rtotal= R1R2R3/ (R1R2)+(R1R3)+(R2R3)
