What is the ATMOSPHERE?
The mass of air surrounding a planet
What is the GREENHOUSE EFFECT?
The process by which certain gases (principally water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane) trap heat that radiates from Earth
What is PRESSURE?
The force (weight) applied over a unit of area
What is ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE?
The pressure exerted by the atmosphere on all objects within it
What is RADIATION?
The transfer of energy by waves, through air or empty space
What is CONDUCTION?
The transfer of heat energy from molecule to molecule by contact
What is CONVECTION?
The transfer of heat energy, through a liquid or gas, by currents
What is HEAT?
Energy that is transferred as a consequence of temperature difference
What is TEMPERATURE?
A measure of the energy of random motion in a substance’s molecules
