What is a social norm?
a standard of expected/acceptable behaviour.
What is abnormality according to deviation from social norms as a definition of abnormality?
anything that deviates from acceptable behaviour as it is unexpected/causes offence.
Give an example of deviation from social norms..
an individual with OCD choosing to bring their own set of cutlery to a restaurant due to their fear of contamination therefore being seen as abnormal.
What does it mean to fail to function adequately?
to not be able to cope with the demands of everyday life
What does FFA look at and give an example
abnormal behaviour that interferes with everyday life, eg unable to maintain good hygiene or basic nutrition
