types of damages
compensatory damages
specific damages - compensation, quantifiable
general damages - compensation, not quantifiable, by courts
aggravated damages - courts believes plaintiff suffered humiliation or emotional damages
exemplary damages
punish defendant
nominal damages
small amount of money awarded to plaintiff, after proven loss
contemptuous damages
small amount of money to show the plaintiffs claim succeeded legally, courts disapproves of it, morally.

- a remedy in the form of an order requiring the defendant to do or not to do something.

- restrict a person from doing something
- prevent harm of further harm from being caused
mandatory injunctions
requires defendant to take action or prevent further harm from being suffered by the plaintiff
