Definitions: Fields Flashcards
Define Electric Potential.
The work done per unit charge to move an object to a particular point in a field.
State Newton’s universal law of gravitation.
The attractive force between 2 point masses is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
Define gravitational field strength.
The force per unit mass that an object experiences in a field.
Define gravitational potential.
The work done per unit mass to bring an object from infinity to a point in a gravitational field.
State Coulomb’s Law.
The force between 2 positive point charges is directly proportional to the product of their charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
