Thought broadcast
the subject experiences his thoughts as actually being shared with others, often with large numbers of poeple. the subject often claim this sharing via telepathy, radio and tv
anhedonia
loss of ability to experience pleasure
delusion
A fixed held belief that is held with unshakable conviction despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary and cannot be explained by the subjects cultural or religious background
ideas of reference
A delusional belief that innocuous events or coincidences are directly linked to have personal significance to the subject. common clinical examples are subjects believing that the tv or radio is talking to them
“referring to them”
neologism
new words that have no real meaning
lability
the subjects affect is rapidly changeable and there are marked fluctuations. the subject maybe cheerful and smiling and then shortly after crying. in its extreme form we may use the word emotionlal incontinence
“their emotions are a LIAbilty”
2nd person auditory hallucinations
the subject hears voices which appear to talk to them directly- ‘youre going to die’

A word used to describe sustained and pervasive emotion
Flight of ideas
rapid flow of thought, manifested by accelerated speed with abrupt changes from topic to topic with some small link. loss of normal thought illogical and muddled in manic patients
Alexythmia
inability to verbally express emotions
Aphasia
no speech- inability to produce words orally
perservation
the repetitionn of a particular response e.g. phrase despite the absence or cessation of the stimulus. in organic brain disorders often
“perserveing with same phrase”
thought insertion
thoughts which are not his own intruding e.g. inserted by telepathy or aliens.
derealisation
an alteration in the percepton or expereince of the external world. the subject may expereince everything as artificial e.g. stage set
pressure of speech
subject talks too much and fast with a sense of urgency
