Ablative
A case with the basic meanings of “by”, “with”, “from”, “at”, “in” or “on”
Some prepositions take the ablative
Accusative
The usual case of a direct object; many prepositions take the accusative
Adverb
A word that describes or changes the meaning of a verb, an adjective or another adverb: he walks slowly = lentē ambulat.
Active
The form of a verb used when the subject of the sentence is the doer of the action: we saw= uīdimus.
Adjective
A word describing a noun, with which it agrees in gender and number: a happy girl = puella laeta.
Agree
are in the same case and number as
Antecedent
is the noun or pronoun to which a relative pronoun refers back
Aorist tense
the tense of a verb that refers to something that happened in the past: I did this = hoc fēcī. (Compare the perfect tense, in which the word “have” or “has” is used in English
