Game idea =
A games design in general, regardless of depth, like concept or fully designed
Unique selling point (USP) =
Unique factor that sets game apart in a good way, separating it from competitors.
Literally a uniqueness selling point
Game feature =
Any piece of content in a game (VERIFY)
Game mechanic =
Feature that has to do with gameplay (VERIFY)
Game system =
Feature that runs in background enabling gameplay. Literally a system (VERIFY)
Game loop =
Generalized loop of actions player repeatedly goes through.
Theoretical state machine detailing everything player does
When making a game loop, you could technically consider both game and real life activities to get a proper picture of what player really does, step by step
Game activity =
Any activity player can do in a game. Theres varying size levels, like activities and micro-activities.
Character mechanic =
Game mechanic related to player character (eg. Health increase).
Typically affects feelings of power/fantasy
Player mechanic =
Game mechanic related to player, like skill or actions (eg. Minecraft crafting, movement controls).
Typically affects feelings of mastery/self-expression
Input mechanic =
Game mechanic requiring player input
Asset tracker =
List of all assets used in a game, to track assets during development. Extremely useful in big projects
Game design document =
Any document related to game design, like feature document, art bible, etc.
Not to be confused with General design document
