Food poisoning
An illness that can occur 1-36 hours after eating contaminated food. Symptoms my include vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and fever
Contamination
Occurs when something gets into food should not be there, for example, bacteria, hair or fly. This will affect the quality of the food and can cause food poisoning
Bacteria
Microscopic organisms, some of which can cause disease (singular bacterium)
Food hygiene
Ensuring that food is safe and has been protected from contamination
Microorganism
Microorganisms are tiny living things so small you need a microscope to see them

Describe mould
Mould grows on the surface of food and has a furry appearance. Mouldy food should be thrown away
