Dorsiflexion
movement of the foot and or toes superior. (towards the head)
Plantarflexion
movement of the foot and or toes inferior. (towards the ground)
Eversion
movement of the foot away from the midline (lateral)
Inversion
movement of the foot away from the midline (medial)
Abduction
movement of a limb away from the body
Adduction
movement of a limb towards the body
Superior
towards the head
Inverior
towards the ground
Medial
towards the midline
Lateral
away from the midline
Proximal
towards the body
Intermediate
in-between two regions
Distal
away from the body
Valgus
when the distal segment of a body part moves away from the midline
Varus
when the distal segment of a body part moes towards the midline
Concentric
type of muscle contraciton where the mucle belly shortens
Ecentric
type of muscle contraction where the muscle belly lengthens
Isometric
type of muscle ocntraction wehre there is no change in muscle length
