- get away from the attack

- if possible take the attacker to the ground

What is the thrust knife stroke
A stroke that drives the weapon straight into the target area it is the most dangerous
What is the slash knife stroke
A knife stroke that can leave a surface wound and a deep cut
What is the flick knife stroke 
A flick of the wrist usually leaving small surface wounds (the least dangerous)
What is the tear knife stroke
Ripping type cut resulting from a slash with the point of the knife blade

A knife stroke that penetrates deep from the cutting edge of the knife

Using the end of the handle for a strike or punch
