Pathogen
A micro organism that causes disease
Antigen
A protein originating on a cell surface that acts as a marker to other cells
Micro Organism
An organism too small to be seen with the naked eye

A protein, secreted by lymphocytes that neutralises toxins.
Lymphocyte
A type of white blood cell that detects specific antigens.
Bacterium
A micro organism that has a cell wall, but no nucleus

A specific protein (produced by a lymphocytes) that attaches to an antigen.
Antibiotic Resistant
Bacteria that are no longer killed by an antibiotic
Communicable
Can be passed from person to person.
Immunity
That ability to produce antibodies against a specific pathogen so quickly that symptoms are not experienced.
Placebo
A chemical taken in a drugs trial that has no effect on the organism.
Skin Flora
The community of micro organism occurring naturally on the skin surface.
Phagocyte
A type of white blood cells that engulfs/ingests non-self material.
Vaccination
An injection used to provide immunity to a particular disease
